Target Corporation (NYSE:TGT) is putting up solar power systems in Denver metro area in Colorado. This is the first of its kind in Colorado.
The solar power system is being installed in Target’s five stores. It expected the power will be equivalent to a third of the total power consumed in each store. The annual solar power production will be more than 3,800 megawatts per hour. This is enough power consumed by around 285 homes annually.
Target Corp as the solar energy giant
Target Corp grabbed the top award in the America Business Industry by having solar power as their main source of energy in 2016. About 1,100 megawatts solar power was traced in areas operated ny America’s big companies. This is enough power to supply about 193,000 homes per year.
Installation works are undergoing at the Target’s 5 stores in Colorado. This is a motive meant to match the State’s goals of having clean energy throughout the country. More than 10% of Colorado’s stores have already being installed with the power systems. They are moving towards achieving sustainable energy in an efficiency way. The overall goal is to have all the 500 stores installed with rooftop solar panels by 2020.
Sunpower is the winning bidder
SunPower Corporation (NASDAQ:SPWR), a California based company has been awarded the bid to install the solar power systems. It is in great honor that they get to install Target’s very first solar system in Colorado. Sunpower consider themselves proud associates of Target Corp. Both companies share an ultimate goal of sustainable energy through solar power and it is no great wonder they are working together. Over 90 solar power systems are currently running or panned to be installed in a mission to achieve Target’s dreams of having solar energy across the country.
Target is happy with the progress so far as it leads the retail industry in solar power for a sustainable environment. Sunpower hopes to continue working with Target as the move towards visionary solar sustainable energy. The installation of solar power in the five stores is a great step in the right direction.
