The Verizon Communications Inc (NYSE:VZ) cell phone tower won’t be set up as had been planned earlier. The planning commission expressed its stand after conducting a common vote. Earlier, the Chattanooga neighborhood had been pointed to as an ideal place. But that is now in the past and a new decision needs to be made as soon as possible.

Turn of events

A meeting was conducted on Monday where several representatives expressed their opinions to the planning commission. Verizon is playing a lead role in the construction endeavor. However, contractors are making new revelations. They say there are other businesses that are currently in a position to lease it as well. The companies were Sprint Corp (NYSE:S) and AT&T Inc (NYSE:T).

Part of the discussion was on ways this tower would be facilitating communication with first responders. The past few weeks have witnessed residents protest in a great way. They are against the proposed location of the 150-foot cell tower.

This commission remains open to listening to almost all the concerned parties. It was on Monday that it also listened to the views from the opposition. The establishment of this tower would eventually lead to undesirable consequences for residents. Most probably, the value of their properties would eventually plummet. This was something they would never wish for. They hope their voice will be heard.

It was a clever move for the commission to listen to both parties. It was even much better to make a decision based on a common vote. By giving the order to stop this construction it has left most of residents happy and satisfied.

NewsChannel 9`s Hannah Lawrence is determined to ensure that everyone’s voice is heard. One thing coming out of the interviews is that residents are satisfied with current state of affairs. So far, none is concerned about what happens to cell phone service in the area.

Mark Brooks, a homeowner is happy about the decision. According to him, it was important considering interests of homeowners and families. He thinks it was a good thing such interests were made a priority. He is optimistic another ideal location will be found.
