Michael Miroballi has been appointed as the new president of Huntington Bancshares Incorporated (NASDAQ:HBAN).

Miroballi’s job description

Miroballi will head the bank’s retail brokerage and will report directly to Jim Brocklehurst, the consumer bank strategic director. Miroballi will be charged with sales execution and client delivery model, client advisory, regulatory oversight, reporting metrics and operating.

Why Michael Miroballi?

Michael previously held the presidential position at BMO Harris Financial Advisers.  He was at BMO for over 16 years. Here he oversaw the company’s strategic performance and the general business outlook. Brocklehurst complements Miroballi as an outstanding leader with profound experience in business management and regulatory compliance. He went further to comment that Miroballi will assist in investing and growing the bank’s customer base. Besides being the prime financial advisor, Miroballi has also acted in other capacities in BMO which include vice president and Trust and Investments head for BMO private bank. Previously he also worked for Citi Group as a senior investment consultant. Here he was actively involved in profile investment, planning and investments portfolios for private clients. Before that he worked for Merrill Lynch & Company as a Financial Consultant and registered representative.

Miroballi is a Chartered Financial Analyst. He is a board member if the Bank Insurance and Securities Association. He is also actively involved in community development as he is a  member of the Board of Trustees member in Illinois. This is a non-profit making body that provides economic and financial literacy services extending fron the elementary level all the way to adulthood. He has his master’s in Business Administration from Northwestern University and Bachelor of Finance from Illinois University.

Activities following the appointment

Miroballi was preceded by Douglas Singer who served Huntington since December 2016 as interim president. Singer is assisting Miroballi with orientation and transition to his new work environment as hr pursues greener pastures. The appointment followed a management reshuffle in Huntington after acquisition of FirstMerit in August 2016. Sandra Pierce, former FirstMerit executive was appointed as the head of Huntington Private Client Group, Huntington Wealth, Investment Management and Huntington Private Bank.
