Rumor has it that Apple Inc.(NASDAQ:AAPL) is attempting to make another surprising move with its upcoming tenth anniversary. The loyalists of Cupertino’s Smartphones can expect new and enhanced features on the iPhone. In its ability to promote and engage in the prevailing technology, Apple is embracing the wireless charging aspect on its handsets.

Over the last twelve months, the Qi wireless standard has gained immense popularity. It is easy to take notice of it in a number of Smartphones. Many of those who have experimented the wireless charging salute it citing that it gives the user an incredible experience.

The success of wireless charging is concept that can longer be ignored

The increasing social expectations and the demand for enhanced technology is a situation that many tech firms can no longer dare to ignore.  Presently, there are high expectations of growth in the global market for wireless charging. Data from an IHS Technology consumer survey reveal that over 90% of consumers are into wireless charging. This has received enormous backing from Samsung. The IHS further reveals that the market is in expectation of more than 350 million enabled receiver pieces that are likely to be shipped before the close of the year.

Apparently, 2016 had an increase of 40% in shipments of wireless charging devices. However, there has been a notable absence of the iPhone device and the reason Apple is seeking to revamp it.  Nonetheless, there is still a clique of people who are cautious about wireless charging on this particular device.

With the wireless charging concept, Apple becomes part of Wireless Power Consortium (WPC)

Reports from the Business Insider indicate that Apple has become part of the 213 member group of WPC.  Alongside AirFuel Alliance, WPC manages the industry’s standards for wireless charging. AirFuel Alliance, which also supports Rezense has delivered a message of welcome to Apple.

On the other hand, a statement from Apple reads, “Apple is joining the Wireless Power Consortium to be able to participate and contribute ideas to the open, collaborative development of future wireless charging standards.”
