The latest phase of iOS update, i.e. iOS 10.1 (or iOS 10.1.1) has started causing the weird battery drain issue in Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone 6, 6s, 6s Plus and 5s. The update, it seems, hasn’t gone down well for the Apple iPhone users. The users claim that this fix is causing iPhone shut down despite 30% battery left. On being plugged to charging, the battery automatically starts at 30%.

The Apple iPhone update came out in October 2016. Since then many users have lodged a complaint for “faster than normal battery discharge.” Also, a few users complain of the device getting hotter than normal due to risen temperature.

How Apple responded to the issue?

According to the company, this battery drain issue has affected only a few iPhone 6s users. Apple says that this “unexpected phone off issue” has affected only the iPhone 6s devices manufactured from September 2015 to October 2015.

Apple Battery Replacement Programme In order to provide a solution to the users facing this issue, Apple has announced to replace the batteries. But only the selected ones shall receive the new batteries.

In case the users want to know whether they are eligible for this battery replacement programme, they can go to their Device Settings to find out the serial number. The 4th and 5th character of your device’s serial number will suggest whether you can get the new battery for your iPhone device or not.
